Visiting the Boston Museum of Fine Arts


Located on Huntington Avenue - Boston Massachusetts, the Museum of Fine Arts ( mfa boston) is one of the world's most comprehensive art museum that entertains over 1 million visitors a year. 
Since it's doors opened to the public July 4th, 1876 (the nation's centennial), the Boston Museum of Fine Arts has shown nearly 450,000 works of art.  This wonderful museum of art offer modern art, contemporary art, fine art, and historical art by painters and artisans from all over the world.
Nestled among the art and design in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, four dining venues, including a wine bar, are available with seasonal menus and locally grown ingredients.  The New American CafĂ© was named one of the best museum restaurants in the US by Food & Wine in January 2014.
A few things to keep in mind....
Personal photography
Still photography and video taken from a handheld device of objects in the permanent collection are permitted for personal, nondistributional, noncommercial use. Please refrain from photography of loans and temporary exhibitions. Flashes, tripods, monopods, or video cameras in the galleries are prohibited. No photographs or videotapes may be reproduced, published, distributed, sold, transferred, or otherwise commercially exploited without written permission from the MFA.
Drawing in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts
Drawing with pencils and erasers are permitted in the museum.
Drawing boards and sketchpads are permitted, but must be 18" x 24" or smaller.
Copying in watercolors, crayons, pastels, or charcoal is not permitted.
Bags, backpacks, pocketbooks, and purses in the Museum are limited to 11" x 15".
As of this posting,  2014, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts ticket prices are as follows:
Adults                 $25
Seniors (65+)     $23
Students (18+)   $23
Youths 7–17*     FREE*Weekdays after 3 pm, weekends, and Boston public school holidays; otherwise $10.
Children 6 and under FREE
The MFA is open 7 days a week.
Monday and Tuesday  10 am–4:45 pm
Wednesday–Friday     10 am–9:45 pm
Saturday and Sunday  10 am–4:45 pm
HOLIDAYS AND CLOSINGS
The Boston Museum of Fine Arts is closed on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Patriots' Day (third Monday in April), Independence Day (July 4), Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
Please confirm dates and times before heading to the MFA since there could be a change in schedule.
